Five police personnel, together with an SHO, had been injured in an assault by supporters of a panchayat ballot candidate after they tried to cease a celebration which was organised in Mudaliya village on this district to search the favour of voters, officers stated on Wednesday. Ten individuals have been arrested in reference to the incident that occurred on Tuesday, stated Superintendent of Police (City) Srish Chandra.

A police staff, led by Inspector Lokesh Bhati, was attacked when it tried to cease the get together hosted by supporters of a panchayat ballot candidate in violation of the ballot code and COVID protocol, he stated. Amid heavy brick batting, the police staff was pressured to retreat. Five personnel, together with an SHO, had been injured within the incident, the police officer stated.

(*10*)Later, on receiving details about the assault, Chandra himself reached the spot together with personnel of the Provincial Armed Constabulary and nabbed 10 miscreants who had been making an attempt to escape, officers stated. A case has been registered in opposition to 20 named and round 200 unnamed individuals for numerous offences, together with attacking a police get together, violation of the Pandemic Act, creating an obstruction in authorities work and violation of the election code of conduct, they stated.

Heavy police drive has been deployed within the village as a precautionary measure. The offenders can be booked underneath the National Security Act, Senior Superintendent of Police Gaurav Grover added.
