‘Motivated Elements Trying To Defame’: Delhi Police On Allegations Of Clamping Down Covid Resource Information

The Delhi Police in an official assertion on the micro-blogging web site stated, “motivated components” are trying to defame the force by spreading misinformation on social media on the Covid-19 crisis.

The Delhi Police tweeted the statement after posts on social media went on to allege the police in the national capital reeling under the impact of CovId-19, from stopping people organizing help for Covid patients.

“At a time when Delhi Police goes past its name of obligation to assist folks throughout this pandemic, it’s unlucky that such allegations are being levelled by motivated components on social media and the mainstream media appears to be giving credence to such propaganda by carrying information studies on them,” Delhi Police said in the statement.

Vested groups spreading misinformation on social media alleging Delhi Police has prevented those engaged in amplifying resource information publicly. 

Taking robust exception to the “unverified and unsubstantiated” allegations, the city police asked people and the media not to amplify such misinformation and warned of legal action.

The police also mentioned all the initiatives undertaken by its personnel during the pandemic in which it helped people with hospital admissions and oxygen cylinders.

“Not simply that, our males are even performing final rites of individuals after their households refuse to just accept the our bodies,” the statement read. “We are going hand with Good Samaritans and members of the general public and supporting them by all means.”

On Sunday, Delhi recorded 22,933 fresh Covid-19 cases and 350 related deaths with 94,592 active cases. The total coronavirus cases count in the city has gone up to 10,27,715 and the death count has increased to 14,248.
