New Delhi: An enormous earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter Scale jolted Assam, India on Wednesday (April 28) morning. As per the data obtainable in the intervening time, the earthquake originated in Assam and tremors had been felt throughout Assam, North Bengal and different components of the Northeast.

As per the National Centre of Seismology, the origin of the earthquake is Tezpur of Assam. The According to the seismology centre, the earthquake was centred 43 km west of Tezpur in Assam.

The quake was at a depth of 10 km (6.21 miles), European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) mentioned.

“Just experienced a massive earthquake in Assam. Waiting for details,” Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted minutes after the earthquake.
