Former Asian Gold Medalist GM Khan Dies in Pune

The 1982 Asian Games gold medalist rider Colonel Gulam Mohammad Khan (Retired) died on Saturday in Pune.

The famend rider, 74, had joined the Indian Military Academy in 1973.

A 12 months later he was judged the Best Rider of the Academy and awarded Polo and Riding colours.

From 1980 1990 he captained the ASC staff, throughout which era his staff gained the National title six occasions and he grew to become particular person National Champion (Eventing) 4 occasions.

As a member of the staff which gained the gold medal in Eventing on the 1982 Asian Games in Delhi, Col. Khan gained the person silver medal driving Goodwill.

At the subsequent Asian Games, in Seoul, he was a member of the Dressage and the Eventing groups, successful bronze medals on each groups and gaining the best place of any Indian rider he was 4th in the Evening and ninth in the Dressage.
