Toronto: Chinese brief video platform TikTok is being sued by a voice actor who claims her voice was used within the viral text-to-speech function, without her permission.
The lawsuit, filed final week, stated Bev Standing`s voice has been used to repeat “foul and offensive language” and that TikTok`s use will trigger her “irreparable harm”.
According to The Verge, standing stated that she did voice recordings for a text-to-speech function “several years ago” for a gaggle referred to as the Institute of Acoustics (IOA).
Those recordings had been meant for use for translations of Chinese texts as a part of a contract with an unnamed Chinese firm, the lawsuit stated.
Standing stated she didn’t authorise the IOA to switch her voice information to different events for later use.
While the function has made Standing`s voice way more recognizable, that is also a disadvantage for her as an actor who does work for commercials, radio and different shopper movies, the report stated.
“No matter what I do, I believe this is going to affect my business,” she instructed The Telegraph.
TikTok hasn`t commented on the lawsuit.
