Keep Ration Shops Open An All Days, For Longer Duration Amid Curfew: Centre To State Govts

Delhi: The Central authorities on Sunday requested the state governments to permit the ration outlets to stay for an extended length and on all days to make sure well timed and protected distribution of each subsidised and free foodgrains to the poor.

The Union Food Ministry famous that meant beneficiaries may not be getting sufficient time to raise their entitled foodgrains in a number of states as a result of Corona induced lockdown which has curtailed the timings of ration outlets.

Hence, the ministry has issued an advisory on this regard stating that, “In view of ongoing lockdown in some States/UTs, that may curtail the functioning hours of Fair Price Shop (FPS), an advisory has been issued on 15th May, 2021…to keep the FPSs open, preferably on all days of the month.” 

The authorities has reportedly requested the states to maintain the ration outlets open for distribution of foodgrains beneath the NFSA in addition to PMGKAY scheme in a staggered method all through the day. 

The advisory has requested the state governments to make sure that FPSs are exempted from the restricted hours of opening of standard markets as foodgrains are coated beneath important objects.
