Requisite adjustments have now been made on the CoWIN digital portal, making on-line or on-site appointments for Covishield vaccine not attainable if the interval after first dose for a beneficiary is lower than 84 days, it was introduced on Sunday.
The Union Health Ministry stated, “CoWIN digital portal has been reconfigured to reflect change in dose interval of Covishield vaccine to 12-16 weeks.”
Appointments already made to stay legitimate
However, already booked on-line appointments for second dose of Covishield will stay legitimate and should not being cancelled by CoWIN, however the beneficiaries are suggested to reschedule their appointments for a later date past the 84th day from the date of first dose of vaccination.
The Central authorities has reiterated to the states and UTs that the web appointments booked for second dose of Covishield prior to this modification of the interval between the 2 doses, have to be honoured, and discipline workers instructed that, if such beneficiaries do come for vaccination, the second Covishield dose have to be administered and the beneficiaries should not be turned away.

They have additionally been suggested to undertake consciousness actions to inform the beneficiaries about this modification.
The Covid Working Group chaired by Dr NK. Arora had beneficial extension of the hole between the primary and second doses of Covishield vaccine to 12-16 weeks.
This has been accepted by the federal government on May 13 and it has communicated this modification to states and Union Territories, Arora stated.
