According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Tauktae which has taken the type of a “very severe cyclonic storm” is prone to intensify additional through the subsequent 24 hours and attain the Gujarat coast on Monday night.

Strong winds with velocity reaching as much as 90 km/per had been lashing the western coastal area.

Maharashtra too was bracing for the storm because the Met division predicted heavy to very heavy rains at remoted locations in north Konkan, Mumbai, Thane and Palghar and intensely heavy rainfall in Raigad on Monday.
