Former India skipper Mohammad Azharuddin is properly famend for his batting masterclass however only a few are privy to his grandfather’s effort behind it.

Azharuddin, who performed his first Test for India again in 1984 in opposition to England at Eden Gardens, introduced his arrival within the worldwide circuit with a historic feat, a record that also stands stable even after 30 years.

“With this bat, I made a world record of three consecutive hundreds in my first three tests against England in 84-85. In a season I scored more than 800 runs with this very bat, chosen by my grandfather,” the previous cricketer wrote in his tweet. 

Azharuddin scored 110 off 322 balls within the first Test innings innings and performed a 105-run knock within the second innings of the second Test performed in Chennai. However, the knock got here in a dropping trigger as twin double centuries by Mike Gatting and Graeme Fowler guided the guests to a nine-wicket win.

Azharuddin accomplished the world record of smashing three tons of in his first three Tests, when he scored 122 within the first innings of the third Test performed in Kanpur. The first and the third Test resulted in a draw.
