Mumbai Police has registered a rape case on the metropolis’s DN Nagar Police Station towards a person named Kumar Hegde below Sections 376 and 377 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Reports in sections of the media have claimed Hegde is actress Kangana Ranaut’s private bodyguard, though police refuse to determine the accused’s id.
“A case has been registered towards a person named Kumar Hegde below sections 376 and 377 IPC. Prima facie, that they had a live-in relationship and a break-up,” Senior Police Inspector Bharat Gaikwad of DN Nagar Police Station told IANS.
IPC Sections 376 pertains to rape while Section 377 pertains to unnatural sex.
Asked to confirm reports identifying Hegde as Kangana’s personal bodyguard, Senior Inspector Gaikwad said, “Police ko pata nahin woh kya kaam karta hai (the police is not aware of what work he does).”
