Cyclone Tauktae final toll in Maharashtra 86, all bodies recovered from Arabian Sea.

 

Exactly per week after the devastating Cyclone Tauktae struck Maharashtra, a complete of 86 bodies have been recovered from the Arabian Sea, together with 70 from the 2 vessels that sank close to Bombay High Fields, an official stated right here on Sunday.

Barge Papaa-305 and tugboat Varaprada sank in the Arabian Sea throughout the cyclone fury and a complete of 86 crew members and oil staff died.

While there have been 261 individuals on board Papaa-305, 13 others had been on board Varaprada, an anchor-handling vessel.

A complete of 188 survivors – 186 from Papaa-305 and two from Varaprada — had been picked up at sea throughout the large India Navy-led search and rescue (SAR) operations which lasted for seven days, the primary half being in excessive climate circumstances.

In the previous week, 70 bodies had been recovered from the Arabian Sea by the Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard.

Besides, over the past couple of days, eight bodies have been recovered, after they had been washed ashore on the Raigad coast of Maharashtra, whereas one other eight had been discovered from the Valsad coast in Gujarat.

“All 274 reported missing have been accounted for. Final confirmation, however, will be pending till the identification of all bodies are complete,” the officers stated.

The navy’s groups of knowledgeable divers and specialist ship INS Makar positioned the wreck of Papaa-305 late on Saturday, and a search continues to be on for tracing the wreckage of the tugboat.
