India attracted highest ever total FDI inflow of $81.72 billion during 2020-21

New Delhi: Total Foreign direct investments (FDI) into the nation, together with fairness, re-invested earnings and capital, rose 10 p.c to the highest ever of USD 81.72 billion during 2020-21 as in opposition to USD 74.39 billion in 2019-20, the commerce and trade ministry has mentioned.

Foreign direct investments (FDI) into the nation grew 19 per cent to USD 59.64 billion during 2020-21 on account of measures taken by the federal government on the fronts of coverage reforms, funding facilitation and ease of doing enterprise, it added.

Gujarat is the highest recipient state during the F.Y. 2020-21 with 37% share of the total FDI Equity inflows adopted by Maharashtra (27%) and Karnataka (13%). Majority of the fairness inflow of Gujarat has been reported within the sectors `Computer Software & Hardware’ (94%) and `Construction (Infrastructure) Activities’ (2%) during the F.Y. 2020-21.

In phrases of high investor nations, ‘Singapore’ is on the apex with 29%, adopted by the usA (23%) and Mauritius (9%) for the F.Y. 2020-21. Out of high 10 nations, Saudi Arabia is the highest investor in phrases of share enhance during F.Y. 2020-21. It invested US$ 2816.08 million compared to US$ 89.93 million reported within the earlier monetary 12 months. 227% and 44% enhance recorded in FDI fairness inflow from the USA & the UK respectively, during the F.Y. 2020-21 in comparison with F.Y.2019-20.

‘Computer Software & Hardware’ has emerged as the highest sector during F.Y. 2020-21 with round 44% share of the total FDI Equity inflow adopted by Construction (Infrastructure) Activities (13%) and Services Sector (8%) respectively. Under the sector `Computer Software & Hardware’, the main recipient states are Gujarat (78%), Karnataka (9%) and Delhi (5%) in F.Y. 2020-21.
 
The main sectors, particularly Construction (Infrastructure) Activities, Computer Software & Hardware, Rubber Goods, Retail Trading, Drugs & Pharmaceuticals and Electrical Equipment have recorded greater than 100% bounce in fairness during the F.Y. 2020-21 as in comparison with the earlier 12 months.
