Kolkata: Leader of the opposition in West Bengal Suvendu Adhikari on Saturday (May 29) alleged that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the chief secretary have insulted Prime Minister Narendra Modi by not attending a gathering chaired by him to debate the ravages brought about by Cyclone Yaas.
Mamata Banerjee did not attend the assembly however entered the room from the place Narendra Modi was holding the assembly and submitted a report to him on the damages brought about by the cyclone within the state, and sought a Rs 20,000 crore bundle for redevelopment of the worst-hit areas.
She was accompanied by Chief Secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay. A number of hours after the assembly, the Centre ordered his switch to Delhi.
“I have no word to criticise the way the West Bengal chief minister and the chief secretary insulted the prime minister,” Suvendu Adhikari, a BJP MLA, advised reporters in a digital press convention.
Claiming that Banerjee questioned his presence within the assembly held at Kalaikunda air base in Paschim Medinipur district on Friday, Adhikari stated that he was invited to it because the chief of opposition within the state meeting and MLA of cyclone-affected Nandigram.
“She is trying to show her arrogance and petty politics by her stance,” he stated.
