Hyderabad: With an intention to guarantee security of kids who misplaced their mother and father to COVID-19, the Department of Women Development and Child Welfare has determined to give them mobile phones containing all the required numbers together with that of the District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) in addition to helpline and emergency numbers.
Speaking to ANI, T Akkeshwar Rao, District Welfare Officer (DWO) of Hyderabad stated, “By providing these mobile phones to orphaned children, they can find help just a click away and can contact any of the officers, numbers of whom have been saved in the phone`s contact list. We have also counselled children on whom to contact and when to contact a concerned officer.”
Rao talked about that in Hyderabad district alone, 10 kids have been rendered utterly orphaned as their mother and father succumbed to COVID-19 and 75 kids have misplaced their mother and father due to another causes through the pandemic. Apart from these 85 kids, there are 138 kids in Hyderabad district alone, who misplaced their single father or mother (both mom or father) to COVID-19.
He stated that these kids, who depend over 200, have been given month-to-month ration kits in collaboration with an NGO as an instantaneous aid. If a baby has been orphaned however has a guardian, then such baby is distributed to the guardian. “Each family is being given a mobile phone, whom they can contact in case of any need for help. They are also being provided with monthly ration kits,” stated Rao.
The DWO stated that if a baby is orphaned and has no guardian to take care of, then these kids are shifted to the 57 baby properties throughout town the place all of the wants and cares of that kids can be sorted by the division.Â
These kids, as per the Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA) guidelines, are then being put for adoption and earlier than adoption, each the kids and the adopting mother and father are counselled by counsellors, he added.
