Speaking on the varied initiatives taken by the ActionAid NGO, ED Sandeep Chachra mentioned, “During the first wave, we distributed ration to over 70 lakh needy people. We organised relief camps and helped several migrants during the lockdown. During the second wave, we started medical helpline in about 10 states. There are about 71 help desks out there helping people inform about vaccines, beds, oxygen and other necessary items.”
Meanwhile, Oxfam CEO Amitabh Behar elaborated on the Mission Sanjeevni. He mentioned that their agency helped in putting in medical tools’s together with medical oxygen vegetation. “We are making efforts to distribute PPE kits. We are also preparing a Asha kit for Asha workers in view of predicted 3rd wave of covid-19.”
