‘Adenovirus-Linked Deaths Underreported’: Top West Bengal Doctor Slams Mamata Banerjee govt, Claims Kids Not Getting Beds | India News


Kolkata: A high West Bengal physician has slammed the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC authorities within the state over quick spreading instances of the Adenovirus amongst kids and lack of beds for his or her therapy. Dr Manas Gumta, normal secretary of the Association of Health Service Doctors, alleged that the West Bengal authorities “underreported” the variety of deaths brought on by an infection of the virus. “This we had seen earlier also during the time of Covid. “Now, Adenovirus has come after Covid, and the government has still not apprised us regarding preparations which are leading to children getting infected and scores of deaths,” he added. 

The physician raised issues and mentioned that the scenario has now turned critical. “All the children are not getting beds in the hospital. CCU is not available to them, the overall situation has turned serious now,” he mentioned. 

“The reports of deaths that we have now [Not of the government], in that over 100 children have already died this means the situation has become tensed now,” the physician added. He mentioned that out of 6-7 pediatric deaths, 30 per cent confirmed Adenovirus signs.

However, to cease the unfold of Adenovirus, Dr Gumta suggested that Covid-appropriate behaviour can be useful in stopping its unfold. “The same precautions we took during Covid, like wearing face masks, washing hands with soap at regular intervals, avoiding crowded places, etc, are needed to prevent Adenovirus also,” he mentioned.
