Visible Emission Line Coronagraph (VELC), the first payload on board India’s first devoted scientific mission to research the solar, Aditya-L1, will likely be sending 1,440 photos of the solar day-after-day to floor stations.
VELC, developed by the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA), Bengaluru, will likely be ready to observe the corona constantly from the Lagrange level 1 (L1) of the sun-earth system, which is about 1.5 million km from the earth.
