Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday knowledgeable that the Centre has determined to scale back disturbed areas below Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in the states of Nagaland, Assam and Manipur after a long time of disturbance.
“In a significant step, GoI under the decisive leadership of PM Narendra Modi Ji has decided to reduce disturbed areas under Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in the states of Nagaland, Assam and Manipur after decades,” the Home Minister tweeted.
He stated that the discount in areas below AFSPA is a results of the improved safety scenario and fast-tracked growth due to the constant efforts and a number of agreements to finish insurgency and carry lasting peace in North East by the federal government.
“Thanks to PM Narendra Modi Ji’s unwavering commitment, our North-Eastern region, which was neglected for decades is now witnessing a new era of peace, prosperity and unprecedented development,” Shah stated.
“I congratulate the people of North East on this momentous occassion,” he added.
The AFSPA empowers safety forces to conduct operations and arrest anybody with none prior warrant. It additionally provides immunity to the forces in the event that they shoot somebody useless.
