After BMC, Maharashtra floats global tender to procure COVID-19 vaccines

New Delhi: Amid scarcity, the Maharashtra authorities has floated a global tender for procuring 50 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines. 

A interval of eight days has been supplied for candidates to submit expression of curiosity (EoI). 

Earlier, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had floated a global EoI for procurement of 1 crore doses to expedite the vaccination course of, PTI reported. However, the civic physique didn’t obtain any bids for the vaccine main to which BMC prolonged its deadline for the tender. 

Meanwhile, after coronavirus vaccination resumed within the state, the centres witnessed few folks because the climate remained cloudy on Wednesday (May 19).  

Due to scarcity of doses and closure of some inoculation facilities on account of Cyclone Tauktae, lower than one lakh individuals acquired the jabs on Monday. Nearly 99,699 folks acquired COVID-19 vaccine on Monday, taking the overall to 2,00,90,308 thus far. 

In view of the cyclonic storm, the Maharashtra authorities had suspended the vaccination drive in components of Mumbai and several other different districts.
