BSP MP Afzal Ansari was disqualified as a member of Lok Sabha on Monday following his conviction and sentence to four-year jail time period in a legal case. Ansari was convicted in reference to the 2005 kidnapping and murder case of BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai on Saturday (April 29).
He has been sentenced to 4 years of rigorous imprisonment and in addition set to lose his Lok Sabha seat. Besides, he has additionally been slapped with a positive of Rs 1 lakh.
Earlier, his brother Mukhtar Ansari has additionally been sentenced to 10 years in jail and slapped with a positive of Rs 5 lakh.
The brothers have been booked beneath the UP Gangsters Act in reference to the murder of the then MLA from Ghazipur, Krishnanad Rai, on November 29, 2005 together with the kidnapping and murder of Varanasi-based dealer Nand Kishore Rungta in 1997.
