Amit Shah in Mizoram: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is about to visit Mizoram today the place he’s scheduled to inaugurate and lay basis stones for improvement projects worth Rs 2,414 crore. According to officers, Shah will inaugurate the Assam Rifles advanced and lay the inspiration stone for Laldenga Cultural Centre within the northeastern state.
Further, he may even ay the inspiration stone for the development of the Zorinpui-Longmasu part of National Highway 502A. In addition, the Union Home Minister can be scheduled to lay the inspiration stone for the development of two sections of the Aizawl bypass.
Assam Rifles (AR), the nation’s oldest paramilitary drive, has two bases at Zodin and Khatla within the coronary heart of town since 1917. The one at Zodin is being shifted to Zokhawsang, an official mentioned in Aizawl.
Assam Rifles headquarters to be shifted
The demand for the relocation of AR headquarters from the guts of Aizawl to Zokhawsang was raised by the erstwhile Mizo National Front (MNF) authorities headed by former Chief Minister Laldenga in 1988 after the drive killed seven civilians in a conflict.

The relocation was among the many prime guarantees of the ruling MNF headed by Chief Minister Zoramthanga within the final Assembly polls held in November 2018.
Assam Rifles, which has been guarding Mizoram’s 510 km border with Myanmar, has two bases in Aizawl, one at Zodin and the opposite at Khatla. The battalion headquarters at Zodin is being shifted to Zokhawsang.
An Assam Rifles official mentioned that they’ve repeatedly advised the state authorities that relocation of the battalion headquarters from Zodin to Zokhawsang is just not fascinating till all pending points and incomplete amenities are resolved and accomplished.
