Ten Left parties will take part within the State-wide ‘rasta roko’ deliberate against privatisation of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) on May 3.
The leaders of those parties have demanded that Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy break the silence on the difficulty, and lead an-all social gathering delegation to New Delhi to impress upon the Centre to not go forward with its plan.
Addressing a joint press convention right here on Saturday, the leaders of the CPI, the CPI (M), the CPI-ML New Democracy, the Forward Bloc, the CPI-ML Liberation, the CPI (ML) and different parties appealed to the commerce unions, associations and like-minded parties to make the agitation successful.
CPI State secretary Ok. Ramakrishna and CPI (M) State secretary V. Srinivas Rao alleged that the Centre was making an attempt to hand over the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant to the Adani Group. Besides demanding that the Centre drop its transfer to privatise the plant, they sought that captive mines be allotted to the VSP.
Mr. Ramakrishna additionally demanded that the State authorities take part within the ‘rasta roko’, and never use any pressure to foil the protests against the privatisation of the VSP.
CPI-ML (New Democracy) chief P. Prasad requested the State authorities to make its stand clear on safety of the metal plant, and convey the opinion of the folks and different parties to the Centre.
