Andy Murray has withdrawn from the Dubai Tennis Championships this week due to a recurring hip challenge, event organisers mentioned on Monday.
The 35-year-old, a three-times Grand Slam champion, is not any stranger to hip issues and was on the verge of retirement in 2019 after having surgical procedure the earlier 12 months.
However, he received his profession again on monitor after one other operation and stormed into his fourth ATP remaining since returning to the tour eventually week’s Qatar Open the place he was overwhelmed by Daniil Medvedev.
“We remorse to inform you that Andy Murray is unable to take part on this 12 months’s event,” Dubai organisers said in a post on Twitter. “Andy has been dealing with a recurring hip injury that has unfortunately forced him out of Dubai.”
Murray mentioned after his defeat by Medvedev that he would have to handle his physique higher, particularly after bodily demanding matches.
“At my age and with some of the problems that I’ve received, I do have to be aware of these issues. I can not simply maintain going till one thing occurs,” Murray mentioned.
“I need to be a bit smarter with that.”
Murray’s pullout from Dubai comes a day after fellow Briton Emma Raducanu, the 2021 U.S. Open champion, withdrew from the Austin Open in Texas due to tonsillitis.
