Anti Cow-Slaughter Law: Hindu Outfits In Karnataka Urge Stricter Action Against Offenders

Mangaluru: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal on Friday urged the Karnataka authorities to strictly implement the anti-cow slaughter regulation within the state. Addressing reporters, VHP regional working president MB Puranik mentioned, “the district administration should create awareness of the law so that cattle are protected. As per the Act, stringent action should be taken against those who slaughter cows and the police should also seize the livestock from the accused,” he mentioned. 

The Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Prevention of Cattle Bill was handed within the legislative council in February 2021 amid chaotic scenes because the opposition raised their voices in opposition to the invoice. Congress and Janata Dal (S) raised objections to the Bill and sought a division of votes. The Bill did not move earlier in December when the BJP has proposed it within the legislative council.

The invoice instructs a ban on all kinds of cattle slaughter and it additionally says that the offenders could be severely punished. According to the invoice handed, violators can appeal to three to seven years of imprisonment. Offenders may be penalised as much as Rs 5 lakh of their first and second offence whereas there are collection of offences made, they might be penalised as much as Rs 10 lakh.

The cow-slaughter invoice was earlier handed within the state in 2010 when BS Yediyurappa was the Chief Minister but it surely was shelved when Siddarmaiah-led Congress took cost in 2013.
