Apple Inc has acquired Mira, a Los Angeles-based AR startup that makes headsets for different corporations and the U.S. navy, the Verge reported on Tuesday, citing a publish from Mira CEO’s personal Instagram account and an individual acquainted with the matter.

This comes a day after Apple unveiled a pricey augmented-reality headset known as the Vision Pro, considered one of its riskiest bets because the introduction of the iPhone greater than a decade in the past, barging into a market dominated by Meta Platforms.

Apple’s headset will check a market crowded with units which have but to achieve traction with shoppers and put it in direct competitors with Facebook-owner Meta after years of clashes between the businesses over points like consumer privateness and management of developer platforms.
