Arch of world’s highest railway bridge on Chenab river in J-K completed

The development of the arch of the world’s highest railway bridge above the mattress of the Chenab river in Jammu and Kashmir was completed on Monday. The 1.3-kilometer-long-bridge goals to spice up connectivity to the Kashmir Valley. It is being constructed at a price of Rs 1,486 crore as half of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Link (USBRL) undertaking. 

The bridge that soars 359 meters above Chenab river, is 35-meter greater than the Eiffel Tower in Paris. It is anticipated to be completed inside a yr. 

The Railway Ministry mentioned the 5.6-meter final piece of metallic (closure section) was fitted on the highest level of the arch on Monday. It joined the 2 arms of the arch that at present stretch in direction of one another from each banks of the Chenab. 

The subtle ‘Tekla’ software program has been used for structural detailing and the structural metal is appropriate for -10 levels Celsius to 40 levels Celsius. 

Northern Railway General Manager Ashutosh Gangal mentioned the development of the bridge includes fabrication of 28,660 metric tonnes of metal, 10 lakh cubic metres earthwork and 66,000 cubic metres of concrete. He mentioned the general weight of the arch is 10,619 metric tonnes and “the erection of members of the arch by overhead cable cranes was done for the first time by the Indian Railways”.
