A fantastic mixture of younger and skilled wrestlers, together with World championships bronze medallist Sarita Mor, World junior silver medallist Antim Kundu and Asian bronze medallists Anirudh Kumar and Arjun Halakurki, shall be seen in motion within the Asian championships beginning at Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on Thursday.

After United World Wrestling (UWW) lifted the suspension on the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) on February 13, this would be the first event when the Indians will be capable to compete at a global wrestling occasion underneath the Tricolour.

Since the principle focus is on the Asian Olympic Games qualifier, scheduled instantly after the Asian championships on the similar venue, the wrestlers who topped their respective Olympic weight classes within the trials will compete there. The second ranked wrestlers in these weights will combat within the Asian championships.

Still, the Indians, who have been disadvantaged of sufficient worldwide competitions in 2023 because of the chaotic state of affairs within the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), shall be eager to showcase their expertise and earn podium finishes within the continental occasion.

India had gathered one gold, three silver and 10 bronze medals within the earlier version.

Women: Shivanee Pawar (50kg), Anju (53kg), Tamanna (55kg), Sarita Mor (57kg), Pushpa Yadav (59kg), Manisha Bhanwala (62kg), Antim Kundu (65kg), Radhika (68kg), Harshita (72kg), Priya (76kg).
