AFSPA extension in Assam: The Assam authorities has extended the disturbed space notification below the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) for one more six months in eight districts of the state from April one subsequent.

The disturbed space tag has been extended for Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Charaideo, Sivasagar, Jorhat, Golaghat, Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao, in keeping with a notification, issued by the state residence and political division, launched to the media at the moment (March 29).

The ‘disturbed space’ tag will, nonetheless, be lifted from Lakhipur sub-division of Cachar district from April 1, following a evaluate of the regulation and order and safety situation in the state. The centre had earlier introduced elimination AFSPA from April 1, 2022 from your entire state of Assam barring 9 districts and a sub-division of Cachar district.
