Automobile sales in India rose to a record high this festive season, pushed by strong demand, with all segments, apart from tractors, reporting year-on-year development, sellers’ physique FADA mentioned on Tuesday (November 28). Overall car sales rose 19 per cent to 37,93,584 items in the 42-day festive interval this yr in comparability to 31,95,213 items final yr. During the interval ranging from the primary day of Navratri and ending 15 days after Dhanteras, passenger car retail sales rose to 5,47,246 items, up 10 per cent from 4,96,047 items in the identical interval final yr.
“Despite initial underperformance during Navratri, particularly in the passenger vehicle sector, the situation improved by Diwali, ending with a 10 per cent growth rate,” Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) President Manish Raj Singhania mentioned.
Sports utility autos had been probably the most wanted phase through the festive interval, he added.
However, Singhania mentioned that stock ranges for passenger autos proceed to be a big concern as OEMs proceed to push additional dispatch, thus preserving the stock price close to all-time high ranges. Two-wheeler registrations grew 21 per cent year-on-year to 28,93,107 items this yr from 23,96,665 items in 20222. “Record-breaking sales were reported in several categories, with rural areas particularly contributing to the surge in two-wheeler purchases,” he mentioned.
Commercial car sales grew 8 per cent year-on-year to 1,23,784 items in the 42-day window.
Three-wheeler registrations witnessed 41 per cent improve to 1,42,875 items through the interval beneath overview from 1,01,052 items in the year-ago interval. However, the tractor sales declined marginally to 86,572 items from 86,951 items in the festive interval final yr.
“Tractors, which saw 8.3 per cent decrease in sales during Navratri, made a remarkable recovery, ending the festive period with only a 0.5 per cent decline,” Singhania mentioned.
Festive interval this yr commenced on October 15 and ended on November 25. Last yr, it stretched between September 26 and November 6.
FADA mentioned it collated car registration information from 1,355 out of 1,442 RTOs. FADA India represents over 15,000 car dealerships having over 30,000 dealership retailers throughout India.
