New Delhi: Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA KS Eshwarappa on Sunday (March 12, 2023) stirred an issue after he questioned if Allah will hearken to prayers provided that loudspeakers are used throughout Azaan. Speaking at a rally organised as a part of the BJP’s ‘Vijay Sankalp Yatra’ in poll-bound Karnataka, Eshwarappa, who has additionally served because the Deputy Chief Minister, referred to as the Azaan “a headache”

“Wherever I go, this (Azaan) gives me a headache,” Eshwarappa mentioned after a prayer name was produced from a mosque close by. 

“In temples, girls and women offer prayers and bhajans. We are religious, but we don’t use loudspeakers. If you have to call for prayers using loudspeakers, it means Allah is deaf,” the BJP chief added.

“If at all there is any country which saves religion it is only India,” he mentioned.

Earlier final week, Muslim organisations in Karnataka’s Chikkamagaluru submitted a memorandum to the District Commissioner and BJP nationwide General Secretary CT Ravi to permit them to make use of loudspeakers for Azaan early within the morning throughout the Ramzan interval.

The Muslim organisations demanded that they need to be allowed to make use of loudspeakers between 5 am and 5.30 am within the backdrop of the start of the Ramzan competition from March 22. 

The use of loudspeakers for Azaan early within the morning is prohibited within the state following agitations final yr.
