Bangladesh fined for slow over-rate in second ODI against Zimbabwe

Bangladesh are having a troublesome time in Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe had overwhelmed Bangladesh by 5 wickets in the second ODI and took an unassailable 2-0 sequence in the three-match sequence countersy a wonderful all-round efficiency (3/56 and 117 not out off 127) by Sikandar Raza’s three-wicket haul helped Zimbabwe.

Dubai: Bangladesh have been fined 40 per cent of their match charge for sustaining a slow over-rate against Zimbabwe in the second One Day International in Harare, the International Cricket Council (ICC) mentioned on Tuesday.

Andy Pycroft of the ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees imposed the sanction after Tamim Iqbal’s facet was dominated to be two overs wanting the goal in the 2nd ODI on Sunday, after time allowances had been considered.

“In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined 20 percent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time,” the ICC mentioned in a press release.

Bangladesh skipper Tamim pleaded responsible to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction, so there was no want for a proper listening to. On-field umpires Forster Mutizwa and Langton Rusere, third umpire Iknow Chabi and fourth umpire Christoper Phiri levelled the costs.
