BCCI President Roger Binny on Friday stated he was not a signatory to the statement on the wrestlers’ protest in opposition to WFI chief, after members of the 1983 World Cup successful cricket team voiced assist for the grapplers.

Binny, who turned BCCI chief in October 2022, was a part of the Indian cricket team that sealed a historic title triumph within the 1983 World Cup in England.

“Contrary to some media reports, I would like to clarify that I have not issued any statement regarding the current situation of the wrestlers’ protest,” Binny informed PTI.

“I believe that the competent authorities are working on to resolve the issue. As a former cricketer, I believe that sports should not be mixed with politics,” he added.
