Bihar: 5 Missing, 12 Rescued As Boat Capsizes In Ganga Near Patna


At least 5 individuals are reportedly lacking on Sunday after a ship capsized in Ganga River in Bihar’s Patna. The rescue staff have manged to retrieved a complete of 12 passengers who have been on the boat. Rescue operations are ongoing. 

Talking to the reporters, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Barh) Shubham Kumar stated, “The mishap took place at around 9.15 am near Umanath ganga ghat when the boat carrying 17 people, mostly belonging to a family, overturned midway. The boat overturned and sank in the middle of the Ganga river. While 11 people have been rescued so far…some of them managed to swim to safety and reach the shore of the river, six are still missing,” reported PTI. 

The district authorities and police reached the spot upon getting (*5*) and initiated a rescues operation with the assistance of locals current on the scene, added the SDM. 

He talked about that the search operation to hint the six lacking individuals is ongoing. The SDM additional added that they’re partaking personnel from the state catastrophe reduction pressure and are trying to determine the identities of the lacking people.
