A BJP chief was shot at and severely injured by unidentified assailants in Chandapur space of the district, police stated on Monday. The 48-year-old BJP chief Neeraj Pandey was shot at on Sunday evening whereas he was returning dwelling after searching for votes for a panchayat ballot candidate. Superintendent of Police, Prashant Verma, stated a case has been registered.
Pandey was initially admitted to the district hospital, and later referred to a Kanpur hospital. Four-phase panchayat polls in Uttar Pradesh will begin on April 15.
