The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) right this moment (January 7) introduced Dorjee Tshering Lepcha because the celebration’s candidate for the lone Rajya Sabha seat from Sikkim for the upcoming Rajya Sabha election. The Election Commission has introduced that elections to 3 Rajya Sabha seats from New Delhi and one from Sikkim are more likely to be held on January 19 (Friday).

Rajya Sabha MPs from New Delhi- Sanjay Singh, Sushil Kumar Gupta and Narain Dass Gupta- are set to retire when their time period ends on January 27, and Sikkim MP Hishey Lachungpa’s on February 23.

As per the EC schedule, polling will happen from 9 am-4 pm in respective state assemblies, and votes can be counted from 5 pm on January 19. The AAP has determined to appoint Swati Maliwal, former Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief as its latest Rajya Sabha MP. ND Gupta and senior chief Sanjay Singh can be renominated for their second phrases.

The celebration stated MP Sushil Gupta expressed his intent to redirect his focus in the direction of the electoral politics of Haryana. Sushil is the AAP in-charge in Haryana, which is anticipated to go to polls later this 12 months. “…we respect his decision to pursue this path,” the celebration stated.

A Delhi courtroom on Thursday, in the meantime, allowed Singh to signal his renomination paperwork from jail. Singh, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a case associated to the Delhi excise coverage, is AAP’s UP in-charge.
