BJP Rejects Exit Poll Projections, Says No Question Of Hung Assembly In Karnataka | India News


Siggaon: The ruling BJP has dismissed the exit ballot projections after most of them predicted a hung Assembly in Karnataka whereas placing the Congress forward within the southern state. Chief Minister Basavraj Bommai mentioned the “exit polls are exit polls”, asserting that the BJP will return to energy with an absolute majority. According to most exit ballot projections, the Congress will end forward of the BJP however probabilities of a hung Assembly are excessive. Exit polls are done in a hurry and there will be lots of errors. There is no question of anybody becoming a kingmaker. For me, the people are the kingmaker and they will bring the BJP back to power,” the CM added.

“Every agency or channel has quoted a different figure. No projection is the same. There will be no resort politics this time as the BJP will get a clear majority,” Bommai mentioned.

On Congress chief Randeep Surjewala’s tweet saying the excessive voter turnout was a “positive sign” for the Congress, Bommai mentioned, “If you check the track record, bigger turnouts have always worked in favour of the BJP and not the Congress. This shows that a lot of people, especially in urban areas, who otherwise don’t come out to vote, have exercised their franchise this year. I take this as a positive sign for the BJP.”

On whether or not the BJP would take into account allying with the JDS if the projections of a hung Assembly maintain true, the CM mentioned, “There is no question of a hung House. We will win with an absolute majority.” At the shut of polling at 6 PM on Wednesday, the general voter turnout was recorded at 69.95 per cent. The counting of the votes can be held on May 13.
