Amidst allegations of shortage and black marketing of tickets for Sunday’s World Cup conflict between India and South Africa on the Eden Gardens, Kolkata Police has sought responses from the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and bookmyshow.com.
On Friday, the police questioned representatives of the ticket reserving portal. About 10 individuals have been held for allegedly promoting tickets illegally and 72 tickets have been seized.
On Wednesday, a case was filed after receiving a grievance from cricket followers, accusing bookmyshow and officers of CAB and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) of partaking in ticket black marketing.
The Deputy Commissioner of Kolkata Police, Priyabrata Roy, mentioned a letter has been despatched to CAB and its consultant is more likely to seem earlier than the police.
Sourav Ganguly’s response
Former India captain Sourav Ganguly, youthful brother of CAB president Snehasish, has come to the defence of the affiliation.
