Buddha Purnima, also referred to as Buddha Jayanti – celebrates the start of Lord Buddha. This 12 months, it falls on Wednesday (May 26), marking the birthday of Lord Buddha. Traditionally, it is a vacation in Mahayana Buddhism commemorating the start of Prince Siddhartha Gautama, later the Gautama Buddha—founding father of Buddhism.
The birthday of Lord Buddha is extensively celebrated throughout the globe and followers start preparation, days prematurely.
Before denouncing the worldly pleasures, the Lord was referred to as Prince Siddhartha Gautama, who later remodeled into Gautama Buddha and based Buddhism as a path resulting in the religious enlightenment of the soul.
It is alleged that as per Theravada Tripitaka scriptures, Prince Gautama was born in Lumbini which is now referred to as modern-day Nepal, round 563 BCE. He was later raised in Kapilavastu.
