The Kansas City Royals signed Austin Nola to a oneyear contract Friday, including a veteran catcher to supply some insurance coverage behind Salvador Perez alongside younger backup Freddie Fermin.

SURPRISE, Ariz.: The Kansas City Royals signed Austin Nola to a one-year contract Friday, including a veteran catcher to supply some insurance coverage behind Salvador Perez alongside younger backup Freddie Fermin.

Nola will get a $975,000 wage whereas within the main leagues and $175,000 whereas within the minors. He can earn $250,000 in efficiency bonuses for video games whereas within the main leagues: $50,000 every for 25, 50, 75, 100 and 125.

The 34-year-old was launched from a minor league contract by Milwaukee on Thursday after the Brewers finalized a cope with Gary Sánchez.

Nola appeared in 110 video games for San Diego two years in the past, hitting .251 with 4 homers and 40 RBIs. But he solely hit. 146 with one homer and eight RBIs whereas showing in 52 video games for the Padres final season.

He is an older brother of Philadelphia pitcher Aaron Nola.
