CBI books 17 Army officials over bribery allegations in SSB recruitment exam

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case in opposition to 17 Army officials together with Lieutenant Colonel, Major, Naib Subedar and Sepoy, on Monday (March 15) for alleged corruption in the recruitment of Army officers by Service Selection Board (SSB) centres. 

The case has additionally been filed in opposition to six others on the allegations pertaining to bribery and irregularities in recruitment of officers and different ranks by SSB. 

The case was registered after criticism from the workplace of Additional Directorate General, Discipline and Vigilance, Adjutant General’s Branch, Integrated HQ of Ministry of Defence (Army), DHQ PO, New Delhi. 

The searches had been carried out at 30 locations together with Base Hospital, Cantonment, different Army institutions, civilian areas in 13 cities together with Kapurthala, Bhathinda, Delhi, Kaithal, Palwal, Lucknow, Bareili, Gorakhpur, Vishakhapatnam, Jaipur, Guwahati, Jorhat and Chirangon. Several incriminating paperwork had been recovered in the raid which will probably be despatched for scrutiny. 

Meanwhile, the investigation remains to be on. 

In March, the Indian Army had cancelled an examination for pan-India recruitment of basic responsibility personnel after the paper was discovered to have been leaked.
