Olympian P T Usha, the famend Indian athlete and coach, was on Monday conferred an honorary doctorate by the Central University of Kerala.

The ceremony befell at Sabarmati Hall, Periya Campus, the place Vice-Chancellor Professor H Venkateshwarlu conferred the diploma upon Usha, making her the college’s first recipient of the celebrated title, the varsity mentioned in a launch.
In her speech, Usha recounted her heart-wrenching expertise of lacking out on an Olympic medal by one-hundredth of a second on the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, it mentioned.
The ace athlete, who can also be the Indian Olympic Association president, defined the actions and achievements of Usha School of Athletics in figuring out and nurturing sports activities skills.
Vice Chancellor Venkateshwaralu praised Usha because the pleasure of the nation and a job mannequin for the youth.

He emphasised that it’s the college’s responsibility to honour and recognise such distinguished people who’ve impressed and contributed to their respective fields.
The CUK awarded the honorary doctorate to Usha in recognition of her excellent contributions to Indian sports activities.
