Centre asks states, UTs to prepare detailed plan of action to ensure fire safety measures in hospitals, health facilities

New Delhi: In view of the prevalence of fire incidents in hospitals and health facilities, the Centre on Wednesday (May 5, 2021) requested states and UTs to prepare a detailed plan of action to ensure fire safety measures. 

The Union Home Secretary instructed Chief Secretaries of States and Administrators of UTs that in the context of latest fire incidents and notably in view of the upcoming summer time season, it wants to be highlighted that both as a result of of excessive temperature, lack of upkeep or excessive load on the inner wirings inside the facilities, short-circuiting takes place, main to fire incidents and consequential loss of life and important infrastructure.
