New Delhi: The Central authorities scrapped Delhi authorities’s flagship ration delivery scheme saying that the Kejriwal authorities did not seek the approval. With this scheme, the delivery of packed wheat flour and rice have been to be delivered to the beneficiaries at their doorstep.

The scheme, which was introduced beneath the ‘Mukhya Mantri Ghar Ghar Ration Yojna’ (MMGGRY) of the Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS) of the National Food Security Act, 2013 was notified by the federal government on February 20. The scheme was aimed toward benefiting 72 lakh individuals. 

The Central authorities flagged considerations saying the doorstep delivery of ration may end in ration card holders shopping for grains and different requirements at a better price than what’s fastened beneath a central legislation.

The Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, claimed that the scheme may additionally make it tough for recipients of the subsidies to relocate and stall a shift in direction of biometric verification of beneficiaries.

Notably, this delivery of ration to house scheme was supposed to begin from the next week. 

The free ration was to be distributed to individuals exterior the ambit of the general public distribution system (PDS), by a community of 280 authorities colleges, as a part of aid measures introduced by chief minister Arvind Kejriwal in view of the lockdown that has affected family incomes, deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia mentioned on Thursday.
