Rohini B., a analysis scholar within the Food Engineering Department on the Mysuru-based CSIR-Central Food Technological Research Institute (CSIR-CFTRI), has received third prize in Ph.D class within the ‘Augmenting writing skills for articulating research’ (AWSAR)’
‘AWSAR’ is a contest for common science story writing organised by the National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC), a division of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, with the coordination of ‘Vigyan Prasar’, an autonomous establishment of DST. It is performed yearly by the DST to advertise scientific writing amongst younger researchers.
Ms Rohini received a money prize of ₹25,000. She acquired the award from Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology and Vice-President, CSIR, on the National Science Day celebrations held just lately at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi.
Her analysis writing was titled “Nature’s Imitation: A Pollution-free solution for the ignition” which addresses the problem of agricultural wastes’ burning in open fields that causes air air pollution due to emission of greenhouse gases. Her analysis includes the utilisation of this waste to acquire zero-calorie sweetener by adopting a bio-mimic and environmentally pleasant method.
Ms Rohini is pursuing analysis for her doctoral diploma from the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR).
