In the wake of the lethal Maoist assault in Chhattisgarh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday cancelled his ballot marketing campaign in Assam and is returning to New Delhi to take inventory of the scenario.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh, who’s co-incharge of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the Assam Assembly elections, confirmed the event on this regard stating the Home Minister is “returning after addressing one out of three rallies he was supposed to address”.
“Union Home Minister Amit Shah has cut short his poll campaign in Assam and is returning to Delhi in view of the Naxal attack in Chhattisgarh. He is returning after addressing one out of the three rallies he was supposed to address,” ANI quoted Singh as saying.

The Home Minister earlier within the day supplied his tributes to the jawans martyred within the Naxal assault and mentioned the “nation will never forget their valour”.

President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi additionally expressed anguish on the killing of the safety personnel whereas battling the Maoist insurgency in Chhattisgarh and condoled the lack of lives of the courageous hearts.
