Citing Free Electricity Promised By Congress, Karnataka Villagers Refuse To Pay Bill | India News


CHITRADURGA: A video of a bunch of villagers on this district on Monday allegedly refusing to pay their electrical energy invoice citing the pre-poll promise of the Congress to offer 200 models without spending a dime has gone viral. Among the 5 ‘ensures’ that the social gathering introduced is the supply of 200 models of energy a month to each family.

During campaigning for the May 10 Assembly elections in Karnataka, the Congress repeatedly stated it could give a stamp of approval for these ‘ensures’ within the maiden cupboard assembly on the primary day of it assuming energy within the State. “We won’t pay,” a villager was heard telling electrical energy invoice collector Gopi within the purported video the place individuals are seen sitting on a platform below a peepal tree.

The invoice collector then tells them, “You have to pay the bill this month. Let’s see what the government says,” to which the villagers reply, “What can the government say?” Gopi tells them if the federal government says it’s going to give free energy, then the electrical energy division will observe go well with.

“We will not pay. They (Congress) have said electricity is free, it will be free only,” one other villager replies. To this, the invoice collector says if the federal government order comes then electrical energy might be made free. “You collect from them (Congress), not us. We will not pay the bill,” the villager says and asks others sitting there to not pay both.
