West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday inaugurated the Ganga Aarti — much like the one held in Varanasi — in Kolkata’s Baje Kadamtala Ghat.

She mentioned that the Aarti rituals will probably be held each night.

“During the summer, the Aarti will be held at 7 p.m. while in the winters it will be organised at around 6 p.m.,” she mentioned.

A short lived platform on which the Aarti will probably be carried out on the ghats on the Hooghly river will probably be eliminated each morning and arrange once more in the night, Ms. Banerjee mentioned.

During the ritual, monks chanted mantras in entrance of the Ganga Devi idol whereas the Chief Minister performed a conch shell.

The Baje Kadamtala ghat on the river Hooghly was decked up for the occasion. Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim, senior authorities officers and others have been current on the programme.

Ms. Banerjee had directed the KMC to start out Ganga Aarti on January 12, the beginning anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.
