Congress Leader KC Venugopal Writes To UP CM Yogi Adityanath Over Health Of Kerala Journo Kappan

New Delhi: Congress common secretary Okay C Venugopal has sought the intervention of the Uttar Pradesh chief minister in offering medical amenities to Kerala journalist Sidique Kappan who’s being handled within the Mathura medical school.

In a letter to UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Venugopal highlighted the denial of fundamental human rights to Kappan who was arrested below the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) in Mathura.

“I would like to draw your kind attention towards the severe health problems being faced by Shri Sidique Kappan, a journalist from Kerala, currently in custody under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh.

“It has been extensively reported that after getting contaminated with COVID-19, he has been admitted to Mathura Medical College, Mathura, the place he’s going through extreme well being issues, compounded additional by diabetes and coronary heart points,” he said in his letter.

Venugopal said it is all the more shocking to learn that “he’s being denied fundamental human rights as he stays handcuffed and chained to his mattress making him unable to have his meals correctly and even use the lavatory for the previous couple of days”.

“I’d request you to intervene on this severe human proper violation and to make sure humane therapy to Shri Kappan,” the Congress leader said.

He said the media fraternity in Kerala and Delhi, besides his family members are seriously worried about his health and “the inhuman therapy” being meted out to him.

“I’d request you to take all obligatory measures to supply obligatory medical amenities to him on the earliest,” Venugopal stated.
