Mumbai: The Mumbai ‘dabbawallas’ who had been struggling for employment due to the affect of COVID-19 pandemic within the nation, have now discovered employment as delivery brokers for metropolis restaurants.
Now, the ‘dabbawalas’ will work as delivery boys in Mumbai restaurants as and when the orders will be positioned in these restaurants.
They will now have to use know-how to ship food and use a two-wheeler to ship food. Earlier, they used to observe sure guidelines which included not utilizing any pollution-causing automobiles and so they delivered food at exact places with none know-how.
The initiative has been undertaken by Dabbawalas Association of Mumbai and the affiliation of Mumbai restaurants for the delivery work within the metropolis. Currently, the delivery will happen in Worli and Bandra areas.
In pre-COVID-19 occasions the dabbawalas used to ship two lakh bins at house, workplace, however their livelihood took successful due to the disaster.
