With strict restrictions for containing the COVID-19 pandemic coming into drive in Maharashtra, the police on Friday reintroduced the e-pass system for inter-state and inter-district travel in “extreme emergency” conditions.

Fresh restrictions on travel, attendance in places of work and weddings got here into drive on Thursday night time.

The state, which is going through an unprecedented surge in coronavirus circumstances, was already underneath a number of restrictions since April 14.

“The e-pass system has been reintroduced from Friday and citizens should use it in the case of absolute emergency,” mentioned Director General of Police Sanjay Pandey.
